The End of Week One

This writing a novel thing has neither been as difficult as I expected it to be or as completely freeing as I hoped it to be. There is a nice balance right in between where I find myself with what I consider good ideas and trying to figure out how all of this will play out. It is a large task to take on and think about when you really have no idea what you are doing. It is no doubt fun though and after my first 4600 words I am rather pleased at how well it is going. I have had the idea for a while now, but I have still found no way of describing it without making it sound like something its not so I won't give it away here, but lets just say I was watching a documentary a few years back about George Lucas getting his Star Wars film off the ground and how he'd written the scripts and all the sources he'd pulled from to create this common story within a world all his own. I wanted a world all my own, something I could lay claim to and so I began to think. I pulled from many sources, have had ideas, titles, even a few characters and plot lines floating around in my mind for years now, but nothing was ever made permanent on paper. Now, I am probably a chapter into this world and I must say, I'm completely in love. So far, it is everything I imagined it would be, but the toughest parts are still sure to come. Week one is done, but so many more lie ahead and Lord knows what will happen within the story and my life that will cause it to go in certain directions. I can't imagine that I will have the end of this story on paper by December, but it is an exciting thought and honestly cannot wait to get there. Writing this way almost feels like reading, I am finding out things about my characters and story as I get further into it and cannot wait to get to the end to find out what happens. That has to be a good sign right? right.....?
